I have a water fall under my heat light for my beardie.?

Is it okay or would it get too humid.Once I saw her puff her beard. She is 5 inches. Is that fine? No it is not ok, you need to remove the waterfall as soon as possible, There are other methods that you can use to let your beardie drink water. Here is a video of how I taught mine to drink:http://reptile-parrots.com/forums/showthread.php?196-How-to-get-your-Dragon-to-Love-veggies-and-drink-water Other people bath their beardies and they drink from the tub, mine prefer to shower. Here is a guide to how the enclosure should be:http://reptile-parrots.com/forums/showthread.php?194-Housing-Your-Bearded-Dragon Bearded dragons are desert animals. They do not need a waterfall, and you shouldn’t give them one.Moving water in a tank will evaporate and raise the humidity.Putting it under the heat lamp will cause even more water to evaporate, and humidity will be even higher. Buy a humidity meter to measure the humidity level him the air.It should be 25%-40% Placing water above a heat source will cause it to evaporate and increase the humidity level. Beardeds are from the desert so its kind of unnessary

Lighting for bearded dragon tank?

I am just curious, for a bearded dragon tank how is the tank kept heated during the night if assuming the lamps are turned off.I’m asking this because i am planning to set up a bearded dragon tank in my bedroom, and when asleep i prefer it to be dark. you dont have to worry about keeping the tank warm at night, as long as it doesnt drop below 60.my bearded dragons tank temp sees to go down to 69.remember they are desert animals and it gets pretty cold in the desert at night if it doesnt get too cold at night there (under 70 degrees) then you should be fine, but if it gets under that you will need one of the red heat bulbs for night time the basic lighting for bearded dragons is this hot side of the tank – 105 – 110 degrees cooler side – around 80 – 85 and on the cooler side you need a UVB light these are examples of good bulbs you can look for at the store: http://www.petmountain.com/product/reptile-uva-uvb-bulbs/11442-523206/zoo-med-heat-uvb-basking-spot-lamp-reptisun-bulb-combo.html make sure you add some sort of ramp/log/hide house on both sides so the bearded dragon can bask and get closer to … Continue reading

Can somebody please help he teach some reptile owners that sand is bad for reptiles?

Sand causes impaction if too much is ingested.Just let whoever those people are know that if the sand gets stuck in their digestive systems:they won’t be able to poop, blood will come out of that area instead, and significantly they could die. sand is bad for all baby reptiles however once they are adults sand is best for some bearded dragons and such leopard geckos are actually supposed to have sand as adults but also they are supposed to have rocks and stuff to climb on to it is never ok to put a reptile in a cage with nothing but sand it can get to hot and cause injury. I agree, sand is surprisingly quite safe, AS LONG AS YOU DON’T FEED YOUR REPTILE OFF OF IT! Obviously it’ll also be bad if you’re not using it for desert animals.Don’t forget, after all, most animals who have sand in the terrariums, LIVE on sand in the wild. Sand is the best substrate for *some* animals, generally animals that live in sandy areas in the wild. Leopard geckos are not one of those animals, they’re from more of a rocky/packed earth desert, not a sandy one. I’m not sure about … Continue reading
